Meet the Artist!

The saltwater crocodile and king cobra designs of our featured shirts have been created by our wonderful Animal Husbandry and Volunteer Administrator, Casey Brose.
Casey has been working at Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary for around 3 years and before that, he volunteered alongside all of our reptiles. Casey is a professional artist inspired by the natural world and animals around him. He has been published in the past in children's books and a scientific article.
Casey's incredible designs were inspired by two actual animals at PHS.
Brad, our saltwater crocodile often jumps for his food during our summer night Croc Walk events. The awe-inspiring sight of a 15 foot crocodile lunging out of the water was the inspiration for the design of the first custom shirt Casey created for PHS.
Following this hit design, Casey was inspired by PHS's venom manager Cale's favorite snake, Elvis, our king cobra. King cobras are the largest venomous snake species, spanning over 13 feet long. Elvis, one of PHS's most popular venomous animals, was actually an illegal pet that had been housed in a New York City apartment! This design features a king cobra expanding out his rib cage to create the distinct hood shape often associated with cobras!
Keep an eye out for future designs by Casey and possibly future PHS staff artists!
